A leading provider of paving materials and services for the road construction industry is looking for a self-motivated and experienced HR Generalist to support our HR department. The position is responsible for providing effective and comprehensive administrative support for full-service Human Resource functions, including benefits, staffing, record management and compliance, as well as employee relations, payroll, safety, and other areas.

Job Responsibilities:

Maintains our talent acquisition which includes, submitting job postings, recruiting, pre-screening, scheduling candidate’s interviews, processing drug screens, background checks and I-9’s.

  • Coordinate logistics and conducts new hire orientations

  • Builds Relationships with local schools and career centers

  • Process inquiries to previous employees for new DOT hires

  • Process Annual MVRs

  • Manage Employee Referral Program

  • Provide additional Assistance on yearly HR department priorities

  • Performs administrative work, including scheduling, maintaining files and sorting mail for the Human Resources department

  • Enter new Hire employment data into a computer database

  • Coordinate logistics for new hire orientations and employee training sessions

  • Provides clerical and administrative support or direction to one or more functional areas of Human Resources, such as: benefits, recruitment and staffing, personnel records, employee or labor relations, compensation, training and/or equal opportunity/affirmative action.

  • Conducts the initial orientation for all new hires, including processing new hire documentation and ensuring that data is correctly entered and processed in all applicable systems.

  • Processes various applications, Benefit enrollment, pay change, promotions, terminations and informational and other confidential forms and records and ensures proper recordkeeping for personnel policies and procedures for both Human Resources and DOT compliance purposes.

  • Leads and supports the recruitment, selection and hiring new employees, i.e. job postings, screenings and filtering applicants.

  • Assists with the termination processes to ensure compliance with all applicable laws.

  • May perform higher level duties involving employee communications, such as responding to routine questions on human resources policies and procedures, identifying potential issues and grievances, etc. while maintaining a proactive and positive employee relations environment and supporting an open door policy.

  • Provides direct guidance to supervisors and all levels of management in implementing HR actions.

  • Assists with the planning and implementation of annual HR goals and initiatives.

  • Administers the Annual Service Award program.

  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s direction.

Job Qualifications and Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience.

  • Specialized training in employment law, HR concepts, Organizational development, employee relations and preventative labor relations preferred, not required

  • MS Office Products, i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook.

  • Detailed oriented, organized and accurate.

  • Travel occasionally required, sometimes with little or no advance notice.
