Overview

The senior human resource generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with HR and company management in a variety of generalist human resource areas including: recruitment/employment, benefits administration, employee relations, HRIS administration, comp/performance management, onboarding, policy implementation and employment law compliance.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  1. Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel, across all locations; assists in the development and implementation of corporate HR policies and procedures; works closely with company management in the implementation and execution of HR policies.

  2. In partnership with hiring manages, coordinates recruitment effort for exempt and nonexempt personnel, from initial job description/posting, interview and selection and final onboarding tasks.

  3. Manages and administers the Human Resources Information System, including system upgrades/changes, report generation, problem resolution and insuring data integrity. This includes integration work related to acquisitions, as needed.

  4. Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.

  5. Administers the compensation program; monitors the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary.

  6. Leads benefits administration to include enrollment, communication of plan changes, open enrollment planning and management, execution of plan changes, assisting in the resolution of employee benefit issues.

  7. Responsible for various compliance tasks, such as EEO and OSHA reporting, plan audits.

  8. Administer leave programs, including FMLA and support of worker’s comp. program

  9. Handles a variety of employee relations issues, from individual employee issues to management guidance and consultation, assuring compliance with HR laws and regulations.

  10. Assists in development and evaluation of reports across a variety of HR metrics. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed.

  11. Develop employee communication materials, such as compensation statements and employee newsletter.

  12. Supervises the switchboard/receptionist.

  13. Takes the lead role in cross-training and mentoring other HR staff

  14. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  1. A bachelor’s degree, preferably in HR or business related area.

  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in human resources, including benefits administration, employee relations and recruitment. Must have HRIS administration experience.

  3. Two years of experience in a leadership/mentoring role

  4. Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations on both the federal and state level, including FMLA, FLSA, ACA, ERISA, nondiscrimination, etc.

  5. PHR/SPHR or SHRM professional certification a plus

  6. Experience in a manufacturing environment d, but not required

  7. Ability to travel to other company locations (both local and overnight), on an occasional basis
